About Me
Hello, please call me Sara.
I am a therapist for children, teens and adults. My style is relational, direct, real, collaborative and I have been told I sometimes do not sound like a therapist. Which I’ll take as a complement. I bring warmth, humor when it fits, and have a casual, welcoming approach. I am a deep feeler, thinker and self-reflective. I genuinely like my clients, their complexity, their courage, and their humanness. That’s not something I learned, it's just who I am.
I want to know who you truly are — your inner world, your experiences, and whatever you feel ready to share with me.
About My Work
I have been working as a therapist for over twenty years, in both private practice and school-based settings. During my years in schools I had the profound privilege of walking alongside children, teens, and families through some of life's most difficult moments.
I have supported children and families navigating the sudden death of a parent. I have held grief groups, supported children who were ill and children whose parents were ill. I have worked with LGBTQIA+ students and families, highly sensitive people, teens who were struggling with suicidal thoughts, self harm, anxiety, and depression. I have supported young people through trauma, dysregulation, and the very real harm that social media can cause. I have also taught puberty and sex education — because those conversations matter too.
I have worked with diverse populations across many different communities, and I bring that breadth of experience into everything I do. My practice is intentionally inclusive and affirming. I honor your lived experience fully and completely, whoever you are and wherever you come from, you are welcome here.
A Note About Our Relationship
When we work together I welcome every question that helps you feel safer with me. And I genuinely mean this. IfI have said something that missed the mark, felt off, or did not sit right with you, I truly want to know.
I say this with intention because I know from my own experience in therapy how hard it can be to tell your therapist when something does not feel right. That conversation can feel risky. I work hard to make it feel safe. There is always an open invitation to let me know how I can show up better for you. Always.
My Training & Credentials
I earned my Master’s in Social Work at Hunter College in NYC. I completed a Post Master’s at NYU in International Trauma Studies. This began my training and experience working with trauma and modalities that support trauma processing. I completed advanced training and gained certifications in Somatic Experiencing, EMDR, EFT Tapping and others. Since then I’ve worked in non-profits for Domestic Violence, clinics in schools, directly for schools as well as having my private practice.
Why Mosaic Soul Therapy
I named my practice Mosaic Soul Therapy because I deeply believe that from the broken pieces, something new and beautiful can be made.
When I am not in session you will most likely find me outside. Hiking, at the beach, or taking a nap under the Redwood trees.
I love to create. I paint, mosaic, knit, and write. I am determined to learn how to crochet one day. I garden, dance, read, love music, love animals deeply, and have been fortunate enough to travel internationally. I spend time with my family, friends and chosen family.
